Crystal Palace fans have been involved in clashes in Leipzig on the eve of their Conference League final against Ray Vallecano.

In footage circulating on social media, Palace fans assembled outside of a bar in the German city appear can be seen being targeted a group of men all wearing similar black t-shirts.

It remains unclear if the organised group are fans of the Spanish side, or 'ultras' associated with local team RB Leipzig or another German side.

Footage appears to show upwards of 20 black-clad men charging at Palace supporters, with chairs and punches being thrown from either side before riot police, armed with batons, intervene.

It is unclear who initiated the skirmish.

Press Association report that the incident took place outside an Irish bar and ended with a group of English people being held by German police.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said German officers had explained that the crowd were being held over an alleged breach of peace, which would constitute a criminal offence under German law.
