Valencia are keen on signing Aston Villa‘s Andrés García in the summer window.
At the start of this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side have contacted his agent, after failing to sign him in January.
Aston Villa refused to let him leave in the winter market, but that didn’t put off Los Ches, who are still keen.
The Premier League side signed the right-back from Levante UD in January 2025. He has been Matty Cash’s backup at Villa Park and that restricted his minutes.
This season, the Spaniard played 109 minutes from eight matches and 83 were from six Premier League outings. The Mestalla club are ready to offer him an escape route.
Valencia want Aston Villa player
Superdeporte report why the Spanish club want Andrés García and the efforts put in so far to secure his services.
Renzo Saravia, Thierry Correia and Dimitri Foulquier are the three right-backs at Valencia.
Saravia and Correira’s contracts expire in June and Los Ches won’t extend the latter’s deal. Foulquier has until 2027 but could leave if there’s a convincing offer this summer.
Therefore, Carlos Corberán’s side are prioritising strengthening the right-back position. The Aston Villa player is the main target for the manager and Valencia CEO, Ron Gourlay.
Tribuna Deportiva recently stated talks between the clubs have advanced. Superdeporte relay that and add the negotiations have intensified in ‘recent days’ between Unai Emery’s side and Valencia for the 23-year-old.
There’s no certainty on the outcome of the negotiations with the Europa League winners and therefore, Valencia are handling other targets,
Meanwhile, Real Betis are showing interest in a player who welcomes a return to La Liga in the upcoming window.
Aston Villa situation unlikely to improve
Andrés García played 615 minutes from 18 matches for the Premier League side.
Barring a surprise twist, he is unlikely to enjoy regular game time under Unai Emery next season.
He could push for a move in the summer, and Aston Villa would have to make a decision on his future. Transfermarkt value the fullback at €7m.
