Crystal Palace present multi-million offer to manager – Eagles ‘unwilling to let go’ despite competition

Crystal Palace face Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final in Leipzig later today.

The tie at the Red Bull Arena will be Oliver Glasner’s last match with the Premier League side.

In his pre-match press conference, the manager revealed the Crystal Palace players had a farewell party for him on Monday.

The Eagles have to look for the Austrian’s successor and have already identified Andoni Iraola as a target.

Iraola has left AFC Bournemouth, after spending three years with them. He helped the Cherries finish sixth in the table and qualify for the European competition for the first time in their history.

Crystal Palace face competition

Wednesday’s edition of Sport covers the ongoing battle for Andoni Iraola’s signature.

In recent weeks, the Spaniard attracted interest from Liverpool, Chelsea [prior to Xabi Alonso’s appointment] and Napoli, while Athletic Club Bilbao and Villarreal also looked at him.

However, Crystal Palace, AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen are his main candidates and are ‘pushing the hardest’ to sign him.

The Premier League is ‘unwilling to let go’ of the 43-year-old, where the Eagles are keen. They made a ‘multi-million pound offer’, after making initial contact.

Iraola is considering Crystal Palace’s proposal as it gives him a promising project and allows his family to continue in England.

AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen are also keen. The Serie A side have parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri, after missing out on the Champions League.

Sport say the Rossoneri’s offer is the ‘most ambitious’ from a sporting point of view as it allows him to challenge for the title.

There’s been in contact between the parties and Milan hope to finalise the deal this week.

The Bundesliga side have him on their agenda while earlier claims stated Iraola isn’t their main target.

Manager’s Bournemouth record

Andoni Iraola managed 127 matches for the English club of which 40 were from this season.

His record is as follows:

Matches played: 127

Wins: 48

Draws: 38

Loses: 41

Players used: 52

Goals scored: 207

Goals conceded: 195

Iraola now has to make the final decision between Crystal Palace and AC Milan.
