First steps ready for deal with West Ham – Hammers’ financial situation proving tempting

AS Roma appear quite interested in West Ham‘s Crysencio Summerville. A plan is being laid to sign the Dutchman this summer.

The winger was one of the bright lights in the campaign for the Hammers. He proved crucial whenever they won, scoring in triumphs over Tottenham, Sunderland, Fulham and Burnley. He also assisted twice against Nottingham Forest earlier in the campaign.

Throughout, he has shown an ability to do well at the highest level.

Sport Witness have covered how this attracted interest from Roma, with Gian Piero Gasperini said to be Summerville’s admirer.

As talk grows, the Giallorossi are prepared to take the first steps of a summer move.

Initial contact on the way

Il Messaggero are confident that the West Ham player is a big target for Roma. He is currently the likeliest candidate to join them, out of Mason Greenwood, Antonio Nusa and Joshua Zirkzee.

They did try to sign him in January too. At that point, the London club slammed the door in their faces but things will change now.

Roma are soon expected to contact Summerville’s entourage. This will be their first step towards a deal, especially as the attacker shares the same agents as Giallorossi hero Donyell Malen.

This can help in a move, with Gasperini expecting at least one attacking signing in the summer.

Roma attentive to financial situation

Gazzetta dello Sport also add their own bits about Summerville.

They go down the finances route, pointing at West Ham’s relegation. This will help Roma iron out a deal worth around€30m. They are confident Summerville will be sold, as the Hammers posted losses of €121m in their previous financial statements.

The Giallorossi see this as further encouragement that a deal can be done.

Gasperini views his 1v1 ability as vital for his system, which is why Malen has also thrived under him.

Decision will come down to Summerville

There is every chance the 24-year-old has a lot of options on his plate in the summer. He has done enough to command interest from many bigger English clubs, which won’t help Roma at all.

One thing in their favour is Champions League status. This was sealed last week and Summerville could be appealed by that.

Suitors like Tottenham aren’t guaranteeing that next season, with Roma also blessed with financial support because of qualification.

There is every chance the Giallorossi end up using his entourage to iron out an agreement with West Ham. That will be one way of using that positive relationship and executing another exciting move from England.
