‘Talks have begun’ – Arsenal in active discussion for midfield arrival

Arsenal‘s first title win in 22 years hasn’t stopped them making further improvements to their squad. They are already at work for a major summer signing.

The player in question is Sandro Tonali.Sport Witness have covered how Manchester United have moved to be frontrunners to sign the Italian and are confident about securing his signature.

While they are much closer to signing Ederson, the need for multiple midfielders makes Tonali an important target.

The Red Devils’ task to sign the ex-AC Milan now appears far from easy. Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to land the Newcastle United star.

Talks underway

Tuttomercatoweb report Mikel Arteta sees improving midfield as a priority in the summer. Tonali is someone Arsenal have been monitoring for months now.

They attempted a January move but the timing of the approach made a deal impossible.

Now, things will be different. They began initial investigations for a formal move some days ago and a breakthrough has been achieved.

This is because ‘talks have begun’ with Newcastle United, with parties assessing the possible figures of a deal. There is no indication of how much the Magpies want but Arsenal are firmly in the race, alongside Manchester United.

The outlet feel Tonali will be very much an option like Declan Rice and will start regularly in the heart of the park.

Tonali can take Arsenal to another level

Martin Zubimendi hasn’t always convinced under Arteta. He appears to slow play down, with the manager often playing Rice deeper to fasten up the build-up.

Tonali can solve this problem on his own too. This will allow Rice to operate further forward in a more preferred role. The 26-year-old is well capable of playing deeper, having done commendably well for Eddie Howe’s side.

Tonali will be expensive but the title win has handed Arsenal a massive transfer budget too. They can still win the Champions League and that will make things even better, financially.
