West Ham United Women have completed the signing of French international goalkeeper Constance Picaud, adding one of Europe’s most experienced shot-stoppers to Rita Guarino’s growing squad ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Super League campaign.

The 27-year-old arrives in east London following an impressive spell in France, where she established herself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in Division 1 Féminine.

Having represented clubs including Paris Saint-Germain Féminine and Fleury 91, Picaud also earned international recognition with France women’s national football team, featuring in major international tournaments and building a reputation for her commanding presence, sharp reflexes and composure under pressure.

West Ham head coach Rita Guarino believes the goalkeeper’s experience at the highest level will be crucial as the Hammers continue to strengthen following an important summer rebuild.

“Constance is a player with outstanding quality and international experience," she said. "She brings leadership, confidence and a strong mentality to our dressing room. We wanted a goalkeeper who can help the team grow and compete at a higher level, and Constance fits that profile perfectly."

Picaud expressed her excitement after completing the move to the Women’s Super League, admitting the opportunity to play in England was one she could not turn down.

"I’m very proud to join West Ham United," she insisted. "The Women’s Super League is one of the best leagues in the world and I’m excited for this new challenge in my career. From my first conversations with the club, I felt the ambition and passion around the project.”

The French international also spoke about working under Guarino and becoming part of the squad’s new era. “I want to help the team with my experience, but also continue improving myself every day," she added. "I’m looking forward to meeting the supporters and giving everything for this badge.”

Picaud’s arrival continues an active recruitment drive for West Ham following recent additions under Guarino, as the club looks to climb the WSL table after securing survival last season.
