Bournemouth the ‘frontrunner’ for signing – Marco Rose connection could be key

Bournemouth are currently the frontrunners for RB Leipzig full-back David Raum, although he is open to staying at the German club.

Sport BILD report on the 28-year-old today, and how the World Cup could lead to a summer move for the left-back.

Bournemouth the front runner

The newspaper explains that while Leipzig are well advanced in their planning for next season, the World Cup could throw everything into disarray.

While the club are wishing their players a strong World Cup, the reality is that it could also bring offer to the table that the club simply can’t refuse.

David Raum is one of those who could attract offers. The defender is being very open about his plans at this moment in time. He’s told Leipzig’s management to discuss a possible extension to his deal, which expires in 2027.

But he also has his sights set on the Premier League. That means he intends to showcase his skills to top English clubs during the World Cup, hoping to open doors ‘above the average teams’ that have recently shown interest.

Marco Rose connection

According to the newspaper, Bournemouth, are currently the ‘frontrunner’ for his signature.

They’ll be managed by Marco Rose next season. David Raum made 97 appearances under him at Leipzig, more than the other four managers he worked under at the club combined.

In fact, Raum has played more games under the incoming Bournemouth manager than any other in his career to date. The link is an obvious one for this summer.

But it’s unclear if Raum believes Bournemouth are big enough of a club. The suggestion here is that he wants to attract bigger clubs in the Premier League than the Cherries. A strong performance at the World Cup could help with that.

Sport Witness covered a report last year on Raum’s interest in a move to Manchester United. With them still looking for a new left-back, perhaps that’s who he’s trying to convince.
