Manchester City are one of the sides interest in Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nübel this summer, with his future in the air.
Sport BILD report on the 29-year-old today. It appears he will have plenty of options on the table should he look to leave Bayern Munich in the coming months.
Manchester City express interest
The newspaper reports that Alexander Nübel recently decline to discuss his future when asked about it over the weekend. As he left Berlin’s Olympic Stadium following the DFB Cup final, he told Sport BILD, “Not today, sorry!” when asked about his future.
But the reality is that his future needs to be determined. The goalkeeper has been on loan at Stuttgart since 2023, but that expires this summer.
Stuttgart have indicated that they’d like to keep him, but they can’t afford the €12m asking price and salary, which is estimated to be up to €11m per season. Nübel is simply too expensive.
Nübel will therefore return to Munich, but he has no future at Bayern either. Bayern recently informed Stuttgart during a secret meeting that Nübel plays ‘absolutely no role’ in their future plans. That’s despite a contract running until 2029, which includes a one-year option.
Fortunately for both parties, suitors have approached the goalkeeper. Sport BILD report that Juventus and Manchester City are interested. Contact has been made with his management. Bayern will do a deal for €10-15m.
Newcastle competition
Any transfer is unlikely to happen soon, though. Nübel is a part of Germany’s squad for the World Cup. All transfer business will be on hold until that is done.
Manchester City could face competition from Newcastle United too. Sport Witness covered a report today explaining how Alexander Nübel could be a part of Bayern Munich’s plans for Anthony Gordon.
BILD reported that it could be a case of player plus cash for the Newcastle star to help Bayern get close to Newcastle’s high asking price.
Such a deal could, potentially, be more attractive than selling directly to Manchester City. Either way, the Premier League is clearly watching the 29-year-old. And with Bayern Munich keen to sell, there’s a deal there to be done.
