Newcastle United are wasting no time working on attacking reinforcements in the wake of Anthony Gordon's likely exit, and have now entered the race for one of Nottingham Forest's top targets.
Newcastle targeting attacking upgrades
The Magpies are more desperate than most heading into the summer transfer window. One year on from ending the campaign as Carabao Cup winners and Champions League qualifiers, Newcastle head into the next campaign without European football and with so much uncertainty.
The focus in recent weeks has been on potential exits, and rightly so given the club's recent failire, but those at St James' Park are still aiming to flip that narrative with additions of their own. And that could see an attacking star arrive.

According to Tutto Juve, Newcastle are ready to hijack Nottingham Forest's move to sign Jonathan David from Juventus this summer.
The forward has struggled in Italy and could be on the move just one year after arriving in Turin.
Forest emerged as a viable option last month and that option has likely become more serious since they've secured their Premier League safety. It's Newcastle who will have something to say about that, though.
The Magpies are ready to capitalise on David's disastrous first year at Juventus, in which he's been deemed one of the flops of the season, to reignite their own attacking spark at a cost of just €30m (£26m).

With 193 goals to his name throughout his career, £26m would be a bargain price. It would buy Newcastle the consistent goalscorer that they desperately need and one who needs to prove a point after a frustrating season at Juventus.
Dubbed a "superstar" by Canada teammate Jonathan Osario, David will be one to watch when the summer transfer window swings open.
Newcastle's interest in David becomes even less of a surprise when considering Gordon's future. The versatile attacker looks destined to leave St James' Park this summer with two European giants chasing his signature in the form of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The La Liga giants became the latest club to join the race this week in what should be a major compliment for Gordon. Fabrizio Romano is now even reporting that Barcelona have made contact with Newcastle over a deal to sign the England international, who is keen on the move himself.

It's deja vu for Newcastle, who were forced to spend their summer trying to keep hold of Alexander Isak last time out, only to eventually fail and face a similar situation less than 12 months later.
It also means that those in Tyneside must get their recruitment spot on, as they aim to make up for lost time and finally deliver some much-needed upgrades for Eddie Howe.
