All being well, Arsenal will have 16 of their 27 senior players involved at this summer’s World Cup.
Jurrien Timber’s inclusion in the Netherlands squad aside (oooh!), there are no major surprises when it comes to who has and hasn’t made the cut for their respective nations, although Myles Lewis-Skelly and Cristhian Mosquera may feel a little unlucky to have been overlooked by England and Spain, respectively.
We already knew Ben White wasn’t going to receive a call-up after injuring his knee, while Gabriel Jesus and Kepa Arrizabalaga have been out of the international picture for some time. Riccardo Calafiori and Christian Norgaard fell short in April’s play-offs, and the other lads, Max Dowman, Marli Salmon and Tommy Setford, are still a little young.
Interestingly, Ethan Nwaneri has been called up to train with the England senior squad while Thomas Tuchel waits for the rest of his Arsenal contingent to play the Champions League final.
We suspect most will be given a quick breather before heading off on international duty. Saka, for instance, is due in New York on 3 June for the release of a WhatsApp promotional film featuring him and Thierry Henry.
