The Brazilian midfielder has penned a new contract.
Sporting director Matt Jackson hopes Andre’s new contract is the start of ‘something special’ in Wolves’ rebuild.
The Brazilian midfielder signed a new four-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, and has insisted he will stay with the club in the Championship next season.
Jackson hopes other players will look at Andre’s decision and decide to help the club’s revival following relegation.
Jackson said: “It's huge. It's all very well us talking about the structure that we want, but it’s demonstrating it.
“I would like to think that we have other players around the playing staff that will look at that and understand that they can be part of something special, if we have one year in the Championship and then a nucleus of players that get promoted already have Premier League experience. I think they can make their careers flourish from there.
“It's a big statement from us. I think it shows the intentions around the quality of player that we want to have at the football club, the way that we want to move forward, and having people that are settled here already is a huge part of that.
“They understand our culture, understand what we're trying to be, and have that individual talent to go with it.”
Andre’s new deal and commitment to the club has been widely praised by supporters, who believe the midfielder is too good for the second tier.
Jackson also states Andre is a Premier League-level player, but says his characteristics will translate well to the Championship.
The sporting director added: “He understands the responsibility of not just his own performances but helping us to build a team together. He's got those leadership qualities that we're crying out for, but obviously we also know that he's got the level to play in the Premier League as well, which is a huge bonus.
“He's a big character at the club. We probably see a slightly different version to him than perhaps our supporters do, he is a great character, and he's got a great sense of humour.
“The lads love him, and with a core group around him as well, I think he can really drive us forward.
“He's got the mental makeup, the psychological makeup to go and actually perform in what's a really tough league.
“It might be slightly different standard wise to the Premier League, but the intensity and the physicality that's required to go into a 46-game season is something we have to account for, and in Andre we have someone that we have no doubts about.”
