Elland Road to host Leeds United pre-season friendly days before Man Utd clash in Dublin

Leeds United will host German opposition two weeks before the 2026/27 Premier League campaign gets underway.

Elland Road will play host to a pre-season friendly this summer when Leeds United host Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

As first reported by Leeds Live, the Whites are expected to host German opposition on the weekend of August 8/9, stepping in after an arranged friendly with Manchester United was postponed. The YEP understands this game has been in the pipeline for months and details are being finalised.

RB Leipzig's majority owners, Red Bull, have held a minority stake in Leeds since the start of the 2024/25 campaign in which Farke’s side won the Championship title. The Austrian energy drinks company has also been the front-of-shirt sponsor for two years.

Leeds’ pre-season campaign is starting to take shape, with quickfire friendlies against Leipzig and Manchester United coming less than two weeks before the 2026/27 Premier League season gets underway on the weekend of August 22/23. They also follow a first visit to the USA for 29 years.

After flying back to Yorkshire, they will have a few more days training before hosting Leipzig on the weekend of August 8/9, followed by a swift trip across to Dublin. The Whites then have a period of around 10 days free before kicking off their second Premier League campaign under Farke.
