The Magpies have hosted meetings with a dedicated Atmosphere Working Group (AWG), which included representation from Wor Flags, the Fan Advisory Board, Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust, United with Pride, NUDSA, Newcastle United Supporters’ Club and senior club executives.
Following ‘extensive’ feedback and research, Newcastle agreed to a new standing section in Leazes West Corner Level 7 - situated to the left of the away fans—which they hope will serve as a singing section.

A Wor Flags survey saw nearly 6,000 supporters share their views on the current matchday atmosphere, highlighting a desire to strengthen the atmosphere at St. James’ Park.
In total, 5,799 supporters responded to the survey, with 73.9% feeling the atmosphere had declined over the past couple of seasons, while 69% of respondents supported the introduction of an additional dedicated singing section.
Supporters also shared that being with friends, family or fans with a similar mindset would help create a more passionate and connected atmosphere inside the ground.
Based in Leazes West Corner Blocks L7C, L7D and L7E, the standing section will accommodate 1,741 supporters.
Supporters who wish to move into - or out - of the safe standing blocks can do so during the seat move window between Monday, June 1 and Friday, June 5.
It is encouraged that any seat swap will be for fans wishing to create a strong vocal presence in this area.
