**Aston Villa coach has described working at the club as a “dream come true” as he continues to enjoy success at Villa Park.**
[Diario Cordoba have an interview with the Aston Villa coach today.](https://www.diariocordoba.com/area-blanquiverde/2026/05/26/jose-antonio-romero-analista-aston-130664782.amp.html) He describes his pride at his job at Villa Park, despite it being hard under Unai Emery.
**Aston Villa success**
-----------------------
Romero is a compute engineer by trade but has taken football up as a job instead, working as a match analyst as part of Emery’s backroom team.
It’s his second job in England, after previously working with Emery during his spell at Arsenal and Sevilla. He’s also worked as a chief analyst at AD Alcorcon and Torpedo Moskau and assistant manager and chief analyst at Cordoba.
He’s a key part of the backroom team, which is now celebrating a Europa League win. That’s the second of his career, and he describes it as a dream job.
“It’s a dream. Winning a second Europa League title is a dream come true; I still can’t believe it,” he said.
“To be there, to have a European title, to experience the Premier League… It’s truly incredible. It’s an honor to have achieved a second title and to represent Córdoba on the world stage.
“To be able to indirectly represent my city in England and European competition, which is something that fills me with immense pride; I’m thrilled, to be honest.”
**Working with an idol**
------------------------
He’s not the only man representing Cordoba in the Aston Villa backroom team, with former player Pablo Villa also in the mix.
That team has been key to their success so far, providing Unai Emery with the information required for their current level of success. And for Romero, it’s a chance to work alongside one of his idols as well.
“The coaching staff is made up of incredibly welcoming people who help you from the very beginning. They’re always very kind, but also very demanding,” he added.
“The day-to-day work, although tough, is very enjoyable because you’re doing a job that anyone would love to do, a job you enjoy. I get along great with Pablo Villa. He’s also been my idol since I was young, during the seasons he played here at Córdoba CF.
“I also have a good relationship with Unai. The manager relies more on the main coaching staff, but he’s always there for whatever you need.”
