Merseyside’s Four Clubs One Goal event returned as Tranmere Rovers, Liverpool FC, Everton FC and Marine FC strengthened their united effort to tackle knife crime across the city region.
Hosted at Marine AFC, based in Crosby, the annual event looks to leverage the power of football to engage young people while tackling significant societal issues affecting local communities. The collective influence and sheer reach of all four Club badges, combined with the educational element brought by Crimestoppers, comprises this powerful platform that lends to early intervention, awareness and positive youth engagement across Merseyside.
This year’s theme focused on county lines and criminal exploitation, encouraging pupils to understand the risks associated with organised crime networks, grooming and exploitation while promoting positive choices, resilience, teamwork and healthy lifestyles.
South Wirral High School represented Tranmere Rovers in the tournament, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams delivering outstanding performances on and off the pitch.
Beyond the results, the success of the day was measured by the conversations created and relationships strengthened between schools, clubs and communities. The collaboration between Tranmere Rovers, Liverpool, Everton and Marine AFC showed how football organisations can work collectively rather than competitively when addressing important social issues.
For South Wirral High School pupils, the event delivered:
Increased awareness around county lines, criminal exploitation and the dangers associated with organised crime.
Opportunities to engage positively with professional football club community staff.
A platform to build confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
Memorable sporting experiences representing their school and community.
The event also reinforced the role of Tranmere Rovers in the Community as a key driver of positive social impact across the Wirral. By using football as a vehicle for education and engagement, the programme continues to support young people beyond the game itself.
