Newcastle United are preparing for a busy summer as they look to bounce back from this season’s disappointment.

The Magpies finished 12th in the Premier League table, their lowest finish under PIF and Eddie Howe, whilst runs to the Carabao Cup semi-finals and the last 16 of the Champions League ended in humblings against Barcelona and Manchester City.
Howe and Newcastle know they can’t afford a repeat next season, and a key part of that will be player recruitment. With that in mind, we take a look at the latest transfer rumours surrounding Newcastle:
Barcelona enter race to join Anthony Gordon
Barcelona have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.
Gordon didn’t feature in any of the Magpies’ final six Premier League matches of the campaign in expectation that he will leave this summer.
Bayern Munich have held discussions with both the player and Newcastle, but it is now Barcelona who are pushing hardest after opening talks over a total package worth around £80million, according to the Daily Mail.
There are, however, conflicting reports of Barca valuing Gordon at £60m. It’s understood Newcastle want around £75m, having paid £45m to sign the winger from Everton in January 2023.
Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, should the two clubs agree a fee.
Newcastle United tracking soon-to-be free agent
Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza wants to move to the Premier League this summer, and Aston Villa and Newcastle United are among the clubs tracking him.
That’s according to Sky Sports News. Mingueza, capable of playing at right-back and centre-half, is out of contract on June 30.
The 27-year-old started his career at Barcelona before moving to Celta in 2022, where he has made 147 appearances.

Manchester United are close to agreeing a fee with Serie A side Atalanta for midfielder Ederson.
Newcastle are long-term admirers of the Brazilian but have never acted on their interest
The Red Devils are looking to replace Casemiro following his departure and according to Sky Sports are into the final stages of talks to sign Ederson.
A £38m deal is being discussed and could be agreed before the end of the year. Ederson, 26, has already agreed personal terms over a switch to Old Trafford.
