West Ham United considered a move for an "unbelievable" manager this week, with David Sullivan unconvinced by Nuno despite the Portuguese now being set to stay at the London Stadium.
Nuno set to stay at West Ham despite relegation
Nuno was unable to prevent his side from being relegated to the Championship, despite picking up a 3-0 victory at home against Leeds United on the final day, but the club have confirmed he is set to remain in charge next season.
A statement read: "The football operation always has to be our first priority and the planning for next season started as soon as the final whistle sounded on Sunday. We held meetings with Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo early this week and are pleased to confirm that he has expressed his continued commitment to the Club – as we have to him.
"Nuno made it very clear that he is highly motivated for the challenge of guiding West Ham United back to the top flight at the first time of asking. That must be the unquestionable goal for next season. Nuno has spent one previous year in the EFL Championship and it was an outstanding success as he secured 99 points to win the title with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018."

The ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers boss maintained a decent record since replacing Graham Potter in September, finishing on 39 points, which is the highest number of any side to be relegated from the Premier League since Blackpool and Birmingham City went down in the 2010-11 season.

David Kretinsky wanted the Portuguese to stay, with the co-owner hopeful he will be able to lead the Hammers to a return to the Premier League at the first attempt, whereas Sullivan had his doubts.
West Ham looked at move for "unbelievable" Nuno replacement
According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham considered a move for RC Strasbourg manager Gary O'Neil, who was viewed as a solid option, given that he has experience in England, having managed Wolves and AFC Bournemouth.

O'Neil, who prefers to use a 4-2-3-1 formation, was only appointed as manager of Strasbourg back in January, leading the French side to an eighth-placed finish in Ligue 1.
Scott Parker was also identified as an option, as the three-time Championship promotion winner has been out of work since leaving Burnley last month.
Parker hasn't been very successful when it comes to keeping teams in the top flight though, with the Clarets enduring a difficult season, finishing in 19th place, after collecting just 22 points, while he has also been dismissed by Fulham and AFC Bournemouth.
O'Neil, on the other hand, doesn't have any experience managing in the second tier, but he was lauded as an "unbelievable" coach by Matt Doherty during his time in charge of Wolves.
Gary O'Neil's managerial career Matches Points per match
RC Strasbourg 27 1.67
Wolverhampton Wanderers 63 1.13
AFC Bournemouth 37 1.05
As such, Nuno, who led Wolves to promotion in 2018, may be the best option.
