It is also a first European accolade for 29-year-old Henderson, who captained Oliver Glasner's side in the final in Leipzig, lifting the trophy amid joyous scenes with Palace.

The west Cumbrian, who started out at Whitehaven Miners Social FC before a spell in Carlisle United's academy, had a solid night in goal as Palace prevailed through Jean-Philippe Mateta's second-half goal.
Mateta struck in the 50th minute and Henderson and his team-mates kept their Spanish opponents at bay to secure the crown.
It is the third trophy in two seasons for Henderson, who won the FA Cup with Palace last term and also went on to lift the Community Shield.

It is the latest landmark for the Cumbrian who last week was named in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for this summer's World Cup.

The FA Cup in 2025 and 2026, the 2025 Community Shield, the 2026 Carabao Cup and the 2026 Conference League have all been won by Cumbrian keepers.
Along with Henderson's three successes, Greysouthen's James Trafford this season helped Manchester City win the FA Cup and Carabao Cup - as well as joining Henderson in the World Cup squad.
