From Portsmouth talks to Premier League move as Everton, Ipswich Town, Liverpool & Co chase £7m …

He held talks over a Fratton Park move - now Premier League sides and clubs across Europe are on his trail.

He was firmly on Pompey’s transfer radar last summer amid talk of a £1.5m bid from Fratton Park.

In fact, The News understands interest in Leuven defender Roggerio Nyakossi got as far as talks taking place between the Swiss defender and the club’s football operation.

A deal was never completed, however, as the Blues turned to Josh Knight to bolster their back line ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

It appears the club’s recruitment department identified a player of potential, however, with Premier League giants Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton reportedly among those keen on landing Nyakossi this summer.

And the list of admirers in the 22-year-old is growing all the time, with the Premier League looking a potential destination this summer.

Everton and Ipswich Town are the latest clubs to be mentioned with being keen in landing Nyakossi in the upcoming transfer window.

But, according to FootMercato, there’s sides across the continent keen to do a deal for the centre-back, before player trading closes at 11pm on September 1.

French sides Strasbourg and Lyon are also tracking Nyakossi along with Bundesliga outfits Augsburg, Hoffenheim, Stuttgart and Werder Bremen.

Dutch side Feyenoord are also said to be keen, with former club Marseille having a £5m buyback clause in the deal which took him to Belgium last year.

Nyakossi is valued at £7m by Leuven, after a season in which he returned four goals from 28 appearances.

A move to Pompey certainly now looks an extremely remote possibility, as the former Servette man’s stock soars.

Pompey are now well stocked with defenders, however, having six men in that department they can call upon.

Regan Poole, Conor Shaughnessy, Josh Knight, Madiodio Dia, Hayden Matthews and Ibane Bowat are those options, meaning at least a couple of those players would likely need to depart to enable further business in that department.
