The 21-year-old has only made sporadic appearances for the Clarets since signing from Ajax in February 2025.

The exciting winger made his debut off the bench during the Clarets’ FA Cup defeat to Preston North End shortly after signing, before making three further cup cameos this season, scoring his first goal for the club during the FA Cup victory over Millwall.

He also made his Premier League bow as a late substitute during the defeat to Brighton in January.

But the Dutchman benefitted from plenty of game time at Pride Park, where he made 14 appearances as the Rams went close to finishing in the Championship play-offs.

He also finished the campaign in fine form, scoring three times in his last six appearances under John Eustace.

Since then, he’s returned to Gawthorpe for monitoring and will be part of Burnley’s setup when they return for pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Paul Jenkins, Burnley’s director of football development, has backed Banel to play a big role for the Clarets moving forwards.

“Jaydon is definitely part of our plans for next season, without a doubt,” he told Burnley’s Keeping The Faith documentary on X.

“He’s had a really good experience at Derby, getting game time, minutes and the icing on the cake was that he scored three goals. Two of which were really fantastic individual goals, so he’s come back in great shape.

“He’s grown as a person, he’s a young man and he’s really focused on returning for pre-season.”
