Rangers stance on permanent transfer over Wolves player emerges as 'very aggressive' faces big…

The player contracted to Wolves spent the most recent season at Rangers.

Rangers have reportedly made their stance on signing a Wolves player on a permanent basis clear.

Danny Rohl’s side finished third in the Premiership during season 25/26 and face a major summer rebuild with designs on trophies. Striker Lawrence Shankland has kicked that off but more will be added and one man who’s name has been debated is Nasser Djiga. He spent the campaign on loan at Ibrox where, after a shaky start, the Molineux loanee developed a strong centre-back pairing with Emmanuel Fernandez.

Like much of the rest of Rohl’s side, performances tailed off in post-split matches, as Rangers lost four of their last five. Djiga is now preparing to be back at Wolves who are getting set for life in the Championship but whether the Burkina Faso international sticks around or heads back to Scotland remains to be seen.

Will Nasser Djiga sign for Rangers this summer transfer window?

Recent reports suggest Djiga may well have kicked his last ball for Rangers. It’s stated in the Express and Star that the defender isn’t heading back to Ibrox and the Light Blues ‘will instead turn their attentions elsewhere.’ Djiga was signed by previous head coach Russell Martin and made 42 appearances over the season.

He said upon arriving in Glasgow: “I am very happy, it will be good to work with the team. First of all, I want to play a lot of games and one of my objectives is to make the fans happy. When I leave, I want the fans to always remember me as one of the defenders who was here. That is my objective.

“Rangers is one of the biggest clubs in Scotland and in Europe. I will give everything, to play every game with the team. I think it is one of the best teams for me. It is a good decision, and I just want to play and enjoy playing with the team. It is always difficult when you start your career in Africa, and in Burkina it was a little bit difficult when I started.

What is Nasser Djiga like as a player?

“My ambition and my passion pushed me to give everything, to get this objective to be a professional footballer. I gave everything and today I am really happy and so proud. First, I joined a team in Switzerland, it was good because I was very very young, it was my first professional contract. I didn't play a lot of games, but it was a good experience. After I joined a Nimes in France, I played a lot of games.

“It was a different country and different football still, but I always tried to adapt and give everything. After I joined the Serbian League, with Red Star Belgrade, where I played a lot of games and it was one of the best moments I lived and after that again I moved to England. I am very happy and now. I am excited and now I can't wait to start with Rangers.

“I feel happy when I speak with him because I knew him when I joined the Premier League, when I spoke to him it was good, and I am really excited to work with him. I am good with the ball, and very aggressive. Defensively, I am a very very quick defender. I am just like a normal defender, with the ball and without the ball I am very focused.”
