Andoni Iraola seems to be slipping out of AC Milan’s grasp, though Fabrizio Romano has suggested all is not lost yet.
In the 48 hours that followed Monday’s huge bombshell regarding the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri along with Igli Tare, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, Iraola became the red-hot favourite to become the new coach of Milan.

What has filtered from sources inside the club is that they want someone who is basically the opposite of Allegri, with a more proactive and entertaining style of play. Iraola fits the bill and was in talks, yet last night La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed he has chosen Crystal Palace, for a few reasons.
Iraola still making a decision
In a video update posted on his channel last night – one which came after the report from La Gazzetta dello Sport – Romano suggested that Iraola has still to make his mind up.
“Milan are definitely continuing its contacts with Iraola and those close to him. We told you about the meeting in London with Cardinale and those who are leading the Milan project,” he said (via MilanNews).
“What Milan are waiting to see is whether Iraola wants to leave the Premier League scene. Before turning Milan down – because that’s not what we’re talking about – Iraola is thinking about the fact that he was one step away from becoming the manager of teams like Chelsea and United.
“He’s been a bit unlucky in his Premier League coaching career this year, given that there were several opportunities. So before leaving elite football, he wants to make some assessments. We’ll have to see whether Milan, in terms of budget and ambition, will be able to secure Iraola’s definitive approval.”
