Crystal Palace join Aston Villa are in the mix to sign Real Sociedad goalkeeper Álex Remiro.
On May 2nd, Sport Witness relayed news Aston Villa are insistent on signing the stopper, whose clause dropped from €50m to €12m.
Last week, we covered claims from Spain that Unai Emery is leading his side’s pursuit of the 31-year-old.
The Villans could face competition from Crystal Palace and other clubs are chasing him for the summer.
Boost for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace
Álex Remiro’s contract expires in 2027 but has expressed his desire to leave La Real this summer.
That’s according to Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, who cover the lates on Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Barcelona.
Hansi Flick appreciates the Spaniard and Barca sporting director Deco has already held talks to find out the conditions for signing.
Marc-André ter Stegen and Iñaki Peña will return to the Camp Nou from loan at Girona and Elche CF respectively. The duo, along with Joan García and Wojciech Szczęsny, are the four stoppers at Barcelona.
Without getting rid of at least one of the four players, they can’t make a move for Remiro.
Although he wants to leave, the Real Sociedad player is in no rush. He knows that apart from Barcelona, there’s interest from other clubs.
Mundo immediately mention Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, and both are keeping a close watch. The Spaniard is also of interest to other La Liga and Bundesliga sides.
La Real have given the green light and are willing to sanction a move if there’s an offer of around €8-10m. This is at least €2m less than his release clause.
The fee is affordable for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, who won the Europa League and the UEFA Conference League respectively this season.
