Andre sends strong Wolves message after previous 'mistakes'

The midfielder penned a new contract last week.

Wolves midfielder Andre insists the club won’t repeat the same mistakes it made last summer - as he targets an immediate return to the Premier League after penning a new contract.

Ahead of the final game of the season, Wolves fans were left stunned when it was announced the Brazilian midfielder had committed his future to the club by penning a new contract until 2030.

Andre was one of a string of Wolves players who many expected to depart following relegation - with a number of the squad linked with moves away.

However, having previously indicated to supporters that he would like to stay at the club, the 13 cap Brazilian international has stuck to his word.

And after pledging his future to the club, the 24-year-old believes all the ingredients are in place to avoid last season’s poor summer.

The Brazilian said: “It was a very difficult start to the season, when we made some mistakes. These were mistakes made during the pre-season that we cannot afford to make now. This next season is going to be a little different. Our coach will have the team under control from the start, so I think it has all the ingredients for a different start than last season.

“I have complete confidence. I think our team is fully capable of doing this. I think it’s a matter of having a good pre-season, having the right players remain and getting new players in early, and that will help a lot.

“Our team will come back stronger. I believe they will bring some players who will help us. I have full confidence that we can return to the Premier League.

“Rob and the coaches give a lot of confidence to us. Rob told me that they will bring in new players and they have a good plan for us, so I’m here to help him, I’m here to help all the players.

“I know this is a difficult moment now, going to play in the Championship, but now we need to work together, all the staff, all the players, and the players that continue here need to work more, they need to give more to the club, and to the other players that can come in and help us, we all need to work together next season to bring Wolves back to the Premier League.”
