Arthur Atta is likely to leave Udinese in the summer and Newcastle United have hope of a deal.
The midfielder was impressive across the 2025/26 campaign. He contributed to ten goals in all competitions, showcasing his strengths of carrying the ball forward from midfield and contributing in the final third.
SportWitness covered how Fulham’s offer for the midfielder was rejected in January. Their approach didn’t convince Udinese, who were only considering a sale in the summer, leading to Newcastle United’s emergence as a suitor.
As uncertainty grows about the Frenchman’s future, Udinese’s valuation is becoming clear.
Three English clubs lurking
Messaggero Veneto – via UdineseBlog, offer a deeper look into the midfielder’s situation.
They note Newcastle United, Brighton and Bournemouth are in the hunt for him. Fulham don’t appear to be in the picture anymore, with Atta’s valuation having risen in recent months.
At this stage the Magpies appear willing to offer €35m. This is also the case the Bees and the Cherries, with the south coast side boosted by European qualification.
However, this isn’t enough for Udinese, who now value Atta at €40m. An offer like that will execute a sale, with the Friulian club having spent €8m to sign the player permanently in the summer of 2025. They are set to make a major capital gain, with Italian clubs also in the race.
Atta will suit English football
In the last few months, the 23-year-old has grown technically and physically. He brings unpredictability and has shown keenness to regularly cover ground.
This makes him a very good fit for the Premier League, which should encourage Newcastle United.
While Atta isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Sandro Tonali, he is more in the Joelinton mould. He likes to constantly venture forward, even if he has a combative side to himself. Eddie Howe’s intense brand of football suits him workrate, which suggests Atta’s value can grow further at St James’ Park.
Udinese are a selling club and they could yet give a discount.
