Arsenal confirm parade route and details of UCL final screening

Arsenal have confirmed the details for Saturday’s Champions League final screening at Emirates Stadium and the celebratory parade that will wind its way through Islington the following day.

As things stand, Sunday’s festivities will celebrate the men’s Premier League title success, while Arsenal Women will also take part with the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in tow. Victory for Mikel Arteta’s side in Budapest would, of course, add a third trophy to the mix.

The Champions League screening

The event has sold out.

Tickets will be available digitally through the Ticket Hub in the Arsenal app.

The Ticket Exchange service will run from 5pm on Friday, May 22, until 5pm on Friday, May 29, for qualifying members from the previous three sales phases.

All gates will open at approximately 3pm, two hours before kick-off, and the club strongly recommends supporters arrive early to allow time for security checks.

Club Level and General Admission food outlets will be open from 3pm until 6.15pm, while bars around the stadium will remain open until the final whistle.

Big screens will be positioned in the North Bank, East Stand and West Stand. The Clock End will be inaccessible due to preparations for a Boyzone concert next week.

Supporters are strictly prohibited from entering the pitch or approaching the screens. The club warns that if anyone enters the playing surface, the broadcast will be switched off and offenders risk having memberships cancelled, as well as receiving a club ban.

Following the trophy presentation, Arsenal have asked supporters to leave the stadium promptly so preparations can continue for Sunday’s parade in the surrounding area.

The Parade

The parade will begin at 2pm on Sunday, May 31.

Four buses will take part. Mikel Arteta’s players will travel on the first bus, with the backroom staff on the second. Arsenal Women will occupy the third bus, while the final vehicle will celebrate Arsenal in the Community, featuring supporters and nominated staff members.

All four buses will remain in constant motion along the nine-kilometre route.

There will be no static trophy lift at Emirates Stadium or Islington Town Hall.

For supporters unable to attend, the parade will be streamed live across Arsenal’s social media channels.

Crowds are expected to exceed 500,000 and could potentially approach one million depending on Saturday’s result and, perhaps just as importantly, the weather.

Buses are expected to be busy and with road closures in place, won’t necessarily get you exactly where you wan to go. Likewise some tube and rail stations near the parade route will be closed, non-stopping or unavailable after the event, with significant queues expected at others.

As a result of the parade, Islington Council will introduce temporary parking suspensions and road closures across large parts of the borough. Supporters are strongly discouraged from driving into the area.

Stewards will line the route and there will be an increased police presence, but ultimately the responsibility falls on everyone attending to behave sensibly and ensure the celebrations remain enjoyable for all.

The club has also urged supporters to remain vigilant. When gatherings reach this kind of scale, things can quickly become unpredictable. Just look at the tragedy that unfolded during Liverpool’s celebrations last summer.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that Gunnersaurus rides around in a small car, as was the case in 2014.
