"We have just been told" - Sky News says "sensational" manager now wants to join Liverpool

Former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is unlikely to join AC Milan amid interest from Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Spaniard has been in talks with the Serie A club this week, but Sky Sports now report talks are not progressing.

Crystal Palace have also been interested in Iraola as they search for a replacement for Oliver Glasner, however the latest update is not good news for the Eagles.

"We have just been told that those talks (with Milan) are not really progressing. Does that give Crystal Palace some hope?

"We're told no, he seems no more likely to join Crystal Palace either.

"We are told that really he doesn't want to leave Bournemouth who are sixth, to go to Crystal Palace who are 15th, despite winning that trophy last night.

"A little bit more to this as well, we're told that clubs that Andoni Iraola is interested in going to are Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool."

Iraola, who journalist Muhammad Butt said is "sensational" last month, averaged 1.5 points per game in the Premier League this season, but went undefeated from January 4th until the end of the campaign.

Liverpool set to miss out on Anthony Gordon

Barcelona have agreed a £69m fee to sign Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon despite long standing interest from Liverpool.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich had also thrown their hat into the ring as they attempt to lure the 25-year-old frontman to Germany, but the former Everton winger is expected to move to Spain.

Speculation over Gordon, who joined Newcastle from Everton for £45m in January 2023, has been rife for two seasons, but Liverpool are now expected to pursue one or both of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig or PSG star Bradley Barcola.

Diomande is expected to cost upwards of £90m and is also wanted by PSG, so there could be somewhat of a winger merry-go-round in the coming weeks and months.

Liverpool are also in talks over outgoings, with Richard Hughes flying to Milan this week for talks to sell Curtis Jones to Inter.
