Crystal Palace ended their season on a high, after lifting the UEFA Conference League trophy in Leipzig. After winning the FA Cup last season and the Community Shield earlier this season, they have now added a European title to their trophy cabinet.
It has not always been easy for the Eagles this season but it has ended with success.
There was not too much between Palace and Rayo Vallecano in the game.
The first half was very even but Vallecano were having some good openings.
However, the best chance of the half fell the way of Tyrick Mitchell when the Palace left back headed wide of the post from close range.

Then, the decisive moment came just five minutes into the second half when Adam Wharton's shot from outside the box was spilt by the keeper. Jean-Philippe Mateta was the fastest to react as he slotted home the rebound.
The Palace players wheeled off in celebration.
They had chances to add to their lead, with Mateta forcing the keeper into a good save.
Yeremy Pino went close with a free-kick from distance that hit one post and then went across the frame of the goal and hit the other post, without it crossing the line.
The Spanish side made some late substitutions in hope of forcing the game to extra time.
Palace were giving it their all and appeared to be tiring but they held on for the historic 1-0 win.

Here are four takeaways from the game.
The French striker looked set to leave South London back in January and came close to joining AC Milan, before a failed medical.
Palace then signed Jorgen Strand Larsen, and it looked as though Mateta would have to win the support of the club again.
It has not been an easy season for Mateta, but he has stepped up when it matters and has arguably scored the biggest goal in Crystal Palace history.
The player will now be heading to the World Cup with France, and he will travel to North America high on confidence.
Throughout the last few years, when Palace have had success, Mateta has been a key part of that. He now has a goal in a European final and, besides the goal, it was a solid performance from the striker.

There is little doubt that Oliver Glasner will leave as one of, if not the best, manager in the history of the club.
He has turned them into winners.
The FA Cup win was a remarkable achievement, but to win a European trophy takes the club to the next level.
Many would have expected Palace to win the game, and they would have arrived in Leipzig as the favourites in the eyes of most.
However, it is about delivering and getting the job done.
Their Spanish opponents gave them a good match, and it was a close game. There was not too much between the sides, and it was not a game of many clear openings.
Palace will bring the trophy back to London, though, and it marks a successful two and a half years for Glasner.
He leaves on a high, and his time at Palace will not be forgotten in a hurry.

Success in the UEFA Conference League gives Palace a place in next season's UEFA Europa League.
As a result of their FA Cup win, they were originally placed in the Europa League for this season. However, due to multiple-club ownership rules, they were forced to drop down to the Conference League, with Nottingham Forest taking their Europa League place.
It has turned out that the demotion has benefited the club as they have won a European trophy and therefore secured entry to the Europa League for next season.
Selhurst Park will once again host European football, and it is a bonus for Palace after finishing in the lower positions of the Premier League this season.
Victory in Leipzig also means that, once again, nine English sides will be playing European football next season.

Palace may have lost some of their star players, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi, throughout the last year, but they have other outstanding individuals.
One player who impressed against Vallecano and was subsequently named the UEFA player of the match was Adam Wharton.
The midfielder has been overlooked by Thomas Tuchel for a place with England for the World Cup, but his qualities were clear to see in the Final.
He battled well for his side, won the ball back on several occasions and often looked to get his side forward, providing the shot that led to the goal.
Wharton is highly rated, and Palace will hope that he is a player they can keep.

Palace will now go away for their summer break, after a long season where they have played over sixty games.
They will then come back for next season and will have reasons to feel optimistic once again.
They will enjoy the celebrations of another trophy and there will also likely be a hope that the success can continue.
