Sport agency firm PLG, which was co-owned by Tyler Alexander-Arnold, has been bought out by a US talent agency. The firm, which has been in operation since 2020, represents former Liverpool players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
However, it has now been bought out by Gersh, based in California, as the company has now merged with You First Football. A post shared by Fabrizio Romano said Tyler Alexander-Arnold has been appointed head of the UK Division in the new set-up. The merger has also been reported in US outlets, Deadline and Hollywood Reporter.
Gersh is an entertainment talent agency that was founded in 1949. Celebrated directors such as Spike Lee and actor Harris Dickinson, who is playing John Lennon in the upcoming Beatles biopics, are some of the clients represented by Gersh.
Speaking about the acquisition, a joint announcement from the head of Gersh Sports and managing partner at Gersh, Steve Gersh, and Juan Aísa, the CEO of You First said: “We spent years identifying the right partners in the U.K., and in PLG we found agents who share the same passion, care and ability that define Gersh and You First.
"Bringing these businesses together fills a critical gap in building a truly global representation platform. Our focus is simple: to provide the highest level of service to our clients, with a collaborative approach across all parts of the business.
"By connecting our teams and capabilities, we can better support our athletes and help them maximize opportunities across all five major leagues. With the combined strength of our organizations, that vision is now a reality."
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who now plays for Real Madrid, and Andy Robertson, who will be looking for a new club, are listed as part of the stable of athletes now represented by Gersh.
Other footballers listed include Fabian Ruiz, Alexia Putellas, Luis de la Fuente, Jarrod Bowen, Christoph Baumgartner and Mikel Jaurezgiar.
Robertson's glittering time at Liverpool came to an end with last Sunday's game against Brentford at Anfield. The Scotsman will now move on to pastures new after a trophy laden spell in Merseyside.
The 32-year-old built up an unbreakable connection with Liverpool supporters during his time on Merseyside and shared a heartfelt tribute after his last match in a Red shirt.
He said on Instagram: "I have spent all week telling the people in the building, players and staff how much they mean to me. Now it's my turn to tell the most important people at the club how much they mean to me. That is you guys.
"From day 1 the love and support you have shown me has been unimaginable. Your support always gave me that extra motivation to be the best I could have been.
"We have had so many special nights and special days together and for that I'll be forever grateful. The home games, away games, trips to Wembley or the parades, you guys ALWAYS show up in your numbers and I never took that for granted.
"You are the heartbeat of the club and the best fans in the world. Thank you for the reception yesterday, that will stay with me for the rest of my life. You guys are family.
"This isn't a goodbye, it's a see you soon. YNWA (You'll Never Walk Alone). Robbo."
