How much Premier League prize money Wolves and Villa will receive

Wolves were relegated from the Premier League while Villa finished in the Champions League spots.

Wolves are set to compete in the Championship next season after their eight year Premier League stay came to an end.

Rob Edwards’ men ended their campaign bottom of the Premier League, having propped up the table for most of the campaign.

As they head into the Championship for the first time since 2018 - they will be without the financial riches that come with being in the Premier League.

When dropping out of the top flight clubs are in receipt of parachute payments, but they are significantly less than what they receive in the top flight.

New figures from The Athletic have revealed that Premier League clubs will receive a share of a record of more than £3 billion.

It is the highest sum ever distributed to clubs in Premier League history.

A major factor in the increased finances clubs will receive is down to the growing overseas television deals, with international broadcast revenue said to make up around half of the league’s total pay outs.

And this season was also the start of a new domestic broadcast cycle, which saw more matches shown live in the UK than ever before.

Figures have shown that Wolves’ slice of the total pot will be £117.7m for finishing bottom of the table, around £1.6m less than what 19th placed Burnley will receive.

Wolves could have gone above Burnley on the final day of the season had they beaten the Clarets at Turf Moor.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa will pick up a cool £182.6m after they finished in fourth place following their victory over Man City on the last day of the season.
