The latest name in the frame for AC Milan is Mauricio Pochettino, who met with representatives from the club recently.
The news of the past 24 hours suggests that Milan are accelerating their pursuit of a new head coach following Massimiliano Allegri’s sacking on Monday. That came after the 10-week collapse had been completed by a loss at the hands of Cagliari, condemning the Rossoneri to a Europa League spot.

A meeting with Mauricio
According to The Athletic, Milan met with Pochettino last week ahead of the United States national team’s World Cup camp in Georgia. The deal that he signed in 2024 expires after this summer’s World Cup on home soil, which makes him available soon.
The former Spurs and PSG boss has been earmarked as a potential successor to Allegri. In his report, James Horncastle adds that Andoni Iraola remains ‘a leading candidate’ despite recent speculation he has turned the job down.
The Athletic add: “Milan are conducting a thorough search with a view to realising the ownership’s ambition to revive the club and make them not only a force again but one of the most compelling football projects in the world.”
In March, Pochettino hinted he was considering remaining in his position as the head coach of the USA despite the fact that results have been mixed to this point.
“We are open. We don’t have a contract for the future but why not if we are happy and the federation is happy?”
At Milan he would find the USMNT star and arguably best player Christian Pulisic, as well as Yunus Musah who will return from loan at Atalanta, although Pochettino did leave him out of the World Cup squad.
