Everton Eye Cut-Price Move For Disinterested West Ham Defender

Everton are interested in signing West Ham full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a source close to the club has revealed to Claret & Hugh this morning.

The defender’s form has dropped off almost alarmingly during the second half of the Hammers’ campaign, which has been in stark contrast to his excellent first season at the London Stadium.

The 2024-25 Player of the Year arrived in a well-sought £15 million transfer from Manchester United and was nothing short of sensational.

What made it even more impressive was the fact Wan-Bissaka managed to perform at such a high level in a struggling West Ham side under both Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter.

Unfortunately, this season has been a very different story.

Wan-Bissaka Form Collapse Was Disappointing

The Congolese right-back has looked a shadow of the player supporters watched during his debut campaign in claret and blue.

His trademark bursts down the wing have largely disappeared and defensively there have been some decidedly dodgy moments at the back post which simply weren’t there before.

At times, Wan-Bissaka has looked disinterested altogether.

Therefore, it came as very little surprise when Karl Walker-Peters was selected ahead of him for the final game of the season.

Moyes Move Would Make Sense

That said, the idea of David Moyes attempting to revive the defender’s career at Everton actually makes plenty of sense.

The Toffees boss is believed to be considering a £10 million move and you’d imagine Moyes would back himself to get the best out of the full-back again.

With long-serving Everton captain Seamus Coleman now retiring, the fit appears obvious enough.

Everton have spent much of the season shoehorning central defenders into full-back positions and, as most West Ham fans know only too well, Moyes has never hidden his fondness for signing former Manchester United players.

As for Wan-Bissaka himself, a hugely promising start to his West Ham career has ended with a whimper.

He certainly wasn’t helped by the fact he never really appeared to return mentally after Congo secured qualification for the World Cup during international duty.

And based purely on his most recent form, he probably won’t be missed nearly as much as many would have expected twelve months ago.
