Callum Wilson has verbally agreed to a new one-year contract with West Ham, just a matter of weeks before his current deal is set to expire.

The 34-year-old striker, whose current deal expires at the end of June is understood to have reached agreement with the club over a one-year extension.

And that's further good news for Nuno Espirito Santo, who has already been boosted by Jarrod Bowen and Tomas SOucek indicating they would be willi ng to remain at the club in the second tier - as he seeks to retain as many of his experiences senior players as possible, following West Ham's relegation to the Championship.

Initially expected to leave in January, Wilson scored an added-on time winner in the 2-1 victory at Tottenham - a success that kickstarted West Ham's revival and encouraged the club to retain his services.

According to reports, ongoing discussions regarding his future have reportedly led to an agreement although the contract extension remains unsigned at present.

Wilson made 26 appearances, many of which were from the bench, and scored five goals for West Ham following his free transfer move from Newcastle United.

The news comes just 24 hours after Wilson suggested his time at West Ham was up.
