Tottenham Ready To Hijack Roma Move For West Ham Winger

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to outbid Roma in the pursuit of West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman was selected for Holland’s World Cup squad despite ending the season in fairly average form, and that international call-up probably ended any lingering hope West Ham had of keeping hold of him in the Championship.

Roma had previously looked favourites to land Summerville this summer, but Dutch media are now reporting serious interest from Tottenham, who of course already snatched Mohammed Kudus from the London Stadium earlier this season.

Dutch outlet VI.nl reported:

“Tottenham Hotspur managed to stay in the top flight is also relevant. Last winter, the Londoners already tried to pry Summerville away from West Ham, but ultimately no definitive agreement was reached.

“Now it seems that Spurs are going to make another attempt. If that happens, Roma appears to find themselves in a difficult position, as the allure of the Premier League is ultimately very powerful.”

Premier League Pull Could Decide Transfer

The general feeling seems to be that Premier League status would outweigh anything Serie A currently has to offer, and despite the rivalry between West Ham and Tottenham, Spurs probably does feel like a fairly realistic destination.

As Matt mentioned in his earlier piece, some of the reports linking Summerville with clubs such as Arsenal and Barcelona always felt a little fanciful.

That’s not to say the winger didn’t have excellent moments during the season because there was definitely a spell where almost everything he touched seemed to turn to gold.

But his form tailed off badly during the final run-in as West Ham drifted towards relegation and, in particular, his end product became increasingly erratic.
