Wolverhampton Wanderers want to ‘recoup part of their investment’ on Fer López this summer if they can.
Estadio Deportivo report on the 22-year-old today as Celta Vigo try to get him back following his successful loan spell at the Spanish club.
Wolves want to recoup
The newspaper reports that Fer Lopez’s future is likely to be one of the issues that ‘drag on into the summer’. That’s because currently, Wolves’ plans don’t align with Celta Vigo’s.
The only certainty at this moment in time is that the midfielder will return to Molineux at the end of his loan deal.
Celta want the player to return this summer after his successful loan spell since January. The player wants this too. He’s feeling positive again after returning on loan to his former club following an unsuccessful period at Wolves following a move last summer.
Wolves are initially counting on him next season, when they’ll return to the Championship. They reportedly see him as a key player for Rob Edwards.
But if they were to look at a sale, they would want to ‘recoup part of their investment’ if they could. They paid €23m to sign him last summer.
Celta Vigo want another loan
That clashes with Celta Vigo’s plans, as they’d like to bring him back on loan. They already tried to get an 18-month loan deal agreed in January, but Wolves refused. The Spanish side wouldn’t be able to afford the asking price for a permanent deal.
Of course, Fer Lopez’s own demands will make a difference. As they clash with Wolves’ plans, there could be something of a stalemate across the summer transfer window.
Sport Witness covered a report yesterday stating that Celta Vigo expect long negotiations with Wolves for the midfielder. It may be a case of whose patience is strongest before Lopez’s future is sorted either way.
