After booking their spot in next season's Champions League, Manchester United have a busy summer ahead of them. Ins and outs will be required as Michael Carrick streamlines his squad, with uncertainty surrounding the likes of Marcus Rashford.
Rashford spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Barcelona but questions remain over whether the Catalan club will exercise their £26m option. The England international is one of a number of high earners who could leave Old Trafford over the summer, with Casemiro and Jadon Sancho already due to depart at the end of June.
Casemiro's fellow Brazil international Ederson appears to be on his way to Old Trafford, while Manuel Ugarte's future is also yet to be decided. This could leave room for at least one new central midfielder as Carrick's team look to deal with at least eight extra matches next term.
With the World Cup starting in a fortnight's time, some business may have to wait. There's still time for some movement, though, and here are our latest lines on the potential ins and outs.
Fernandes' transfer preference
Manchester United are Mateus Fernandes' 'first pick' for a summer transfer, according to The i. The Portugal international is set to leave West Ham United as the London club look to bring in funds following relegation from the Premier League.
Fernandes, who cost the Hammers £42million from Southampton in 2025, is expected to move for around £60m. Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked but United are said to be hopeful of winning the race.

The 21-year-old made his senior international debut in the spring during a friendly against the United States, coming on as a substitute for United skipper Bruno Fernandes. However, he was overlooked for Roberto Martinez's World Cup squad.
Barcelona push ahead with Gordon move
Barcelona are closing in on a move for Anthony Gordon, raising questions over whether Marcus Rashford will start next season at Spotify Camp Nou. Sky Sports reports that the Newcastle star is on his way to Catalunya in the hope of finalising a £69.3m transfer.
Gordon, like Rashford, can play across the front line and has done so for his club and for England's Under-21s. Both men are in the senior England squad for the World Cup, where they will be vying for starting minutes on the left.
United and Rashford are now said to be set for crunch talks which could yet see him stay at Old Trafford. A move to a Premier League rival has also been mooted, though, with Arsenal and Tottenham mentioned as potential destinations.
