It's been a rollercoaster season for Manchester United which saw them start the campaign with Ruben Amorim in charge and end it with Michael Carrick at the helm.
Amorim left the club in sixth position when he was sacked in January, meaning United were well-placed to return to Europe, but Carrick exceeded expectations with a string of superb results.
Carrick won more points than any other Premier League manager since being handed the reins, and he praised his coaching staff and players when he picked up January's manager of the month award.

While Carrick has rightly been praised for guiding the club back into the Champions League, the players also deserve immense credit. These are the player ratings of the season:
Senne Lammens - 8
Lammens had to wait until October to be handed his debut, but he was worth the wait. The goalkeeper has been brilliant for United, making some top saves and bringing a sense of calm at the back. Lammens is the best value Premier League signing of the season, considering he was signed for £18.2m.

Altay Bayindir - 5
Bayindir started the season in between the sticks as Amorim decided to axe Andre Onana. He was at fault on the opening day of the campaign against Arsenal, and should have made way for Lammens sooner.
Ayden Heaven - 7
Heaven was hooked at half-time against West Ham at the start of December. He struggled in that first half but bounced back against Wolves in the next game and ended the campaign well under Carrick.
Luke Shaw - 8
Shaw started his 38th game of the Premier League season against Brighton. Shaw has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but he deserves huge praise for demonstrating durability in a really positive campaign.

Leny Yoro - 6
Yoro's season has been a mixed bag. The Frenchman lost his place in the team after a bad performance against Crystal Palace in November and struggled at Villa Park a month later, but he recovered in the second half of the season.
Patrick Dorgu - 7
Amorim said he could feel "anxiety" when Dorgu picked up the ball, but the Denmark international has been very good since being relocated to the left wing. He has improved markedly and deserves a high rating for his goals against Arsenal and Manchester City alone.
Dorgu scored against Brighton on the final day.

Lisandro Martinez - 6
Martinez missed the first three months of the season as he recovered from a knee injury. He missed more time between February and March due to a calf injury, and was suspended for three games shortly after his return due to the controversial pull of Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hair.
Harry Maguire - 8
Maguire will look back on this season and rightly cherish his late winner against Liverpool at Anfield. He has been an important player for United again, and deserved his new contract. The 33-year-old is still the best centre-back at the club.

Matthijs de Ligt - 5
De Ligt will be more frustrated than anyone with how this season has unfolded. He was in contention for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award at the start of the season, playing the finest football of his United career, but a back injury meant he last played on November 30.
Noussair Mazraoui - 5
Mazraoui has had a forgettable season at United, playing under 1000 minutes across all competitions. He has made just 11 Premier League starts, but deserves a nod for managing to operate in different roles when called upon.
Diogo Dalot - 7
Dalot copped flak from supporters in the first half of the season, but Amorim made his life difficult by playing him at left wing-back. Dalot has been quietly decent since playing at right-back under Carrick.
Kobbie Mainoo - 8
Another player whose season has been a tale of two halves. Mainoo has shown in the second half of the campaign just how ridiculous it was for Amorim not to find a way to fit him into his system. The Stockport-born midfielder has been at the heart of Carrick's impressive five months in charge.

Manuel Ugarte - 4
Ugarte won just one game from 10 as a starter this season, having lost against the likes of Grimsby Town, Leeds, Brentford, Aston Villa and Brighton. Carrick defended Ugarte after the Leeds defeat, but he did not play a single minute after that.
Casemiro - 8
It says a lot about Casemiro's quality that he enjoyed his finest goalscoring season in his final campaign in the most competitive league in the world. He benefited from one game per week, but went out on a high by steering United back into the Champions League. He's a class act.

Bruno Fernandes - 9
A record-breaking fifth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, the Premier League's Player of the Season award, and now the most assists recorded in a campaign. Fernandes will look back on 2025/26 with immense pride. The midfielder's levels have been remarkably consistent since he arrived from Sporting Lisbon six years ago, but this season has been special even by his high standards.

Mason Mount - 6
Mount was producing the most consistent performances he'd managed for United until he picked up an injury in December. A change of manager, two small injuries at the wrong time and a change of formation have seen him slightly slip into the background, but he undoubtedly has quality to offer.
Benjamin Sesko - 8
It took Sesko until the end of September to score his first goal for the club. The jury was still out on him in the winter, but he confirmed himself as a top prospect by enjoying a purple patch at the beginning of 2026.
Big Ben has proven his quality.

Amad - 5
Amad will not be pleased to have finished the season with just two goals and four assists. He took a backward step this term and must return to his best next season. However, he provided 10 goals and 11 assists in 2024/2025, so any fan writing him off after this campaign has a short memory.
Bryan Mbeumo - 8
Mbeumo couldn't have made a much better start to life at United after signing from Brentford, scoring seven times between August and the start of December, but the goals dried up in the second half of the season. Still, Mbeumo's first season at the club should be considered a success.
Joshua Zirkzee - 5
Zirkzee played up front against Sunderland earlier this month and struggled to get involved in the game. Although there were signs of life from the Dutchman in one of Amorim's No.10 roles, there is no place for him in Carrick's formation.
Matheus Cunha - 8
It took a while for Cunha to get going with goals and assists, but he did the right things off the ball during that period, sprinting back, working tirelessly for the team, and adding spirit to the dressing room. All but one of his 10 league goals were scored from December onward, which highlights how important the Brazilian was in the second half of the campaign.
