Dusan Vlahovic is likely to leave Juventus and there is a chance Newcastle United could be an appealing destination for him.
The striker’s current deal in Turin runs out in a matter of weeks. There has been no progress on a renewal, despite him scoring four goals in five games since a return from a long-term injury.
Juventus have now failed to qualify for the Champions League and this would make a renewal even more difficult.
SportWitness have previously covered how Newcastle United have touched base for the striker. There wasn’t enough confidence about a deal but things are now possibly changing.
Major Magpies offer needed
TuttoSport report that the line of suitors for the 26-year-old has been increasing. Juve’s failure to qualify for the Champions League means they are unlikely to keep the striker beyond this summer.
Bayern Munich have been in contact, but Newcastle United are also in the picture for his signing say the Italian outlet.
A ‘very attractive offer’ from the Magpies could convince him into joining Eddie Howe’s side. But it is Napoli who are also advancing, with sporting director Giovanni Manna having made initial contact.
He has spoken to Vlahovic’s father and has a very good relationship with him, having worked at Juve in the past. This is likelyto be a major threat to Newcastle United, especially as Napoli need a striker in the summer.
Magpies probably in the race
It has been previously suggested that the Magpies had made initial contact for Vlahovic. That makes them one of the major candidates to sign him, but a deal won’t be easy.
Since the player will be a free agent, those around him will try their best to attract many clubs. This will help them earn a major commission and grant them more control over the situation.
However, Newcastle United’s failure to qualify for Europe will still be a problem. Napoli, Bayern Munich and even Barcelona can offer him major wages and European football. So unless Vlahovic runs out of options, Howe’s side might not be frontrunners for his signature.
