Unai Emery is eager to bolster his forward options for next season.
Villa have been linked with a summer move for Roma attacker Matias Soule.
Reports in Italy claim discussions have taken place between the clubs over the 23-year-old Argentinian, who is valued at around £30million.
Soule has made more than 80 appearances for Roma since joining them from Juventus three years ago, scoring 17 goals in 42 outings last season.
Villa boss Unai Emery wants to bolster his attacking options and the club also hold an interest in Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes and have looked closely at Wales international Harry Wilson, who is due to become a free agent this summer.

Signing a defender who can play as either a right-sided centre-back or at right-back is one of Emery’s top priorities.
Mingueza, 27, came through the ranks at Barcelona and also has interest from Newcastle heading into the window.
Villa will also look to move out players deemed surplus to requirements, with right-back Andres Garcia a target for Valencia.
Garcia has struggled to make an impact since joining from Levante 18 months ago and was limited to only eight appearances this season, after struggling with persistent injuries.
