Paco’s post thanking Nuno Espírito Santo, the club, and the supporters reads like the final note of someone who poured everything into a fractured season and came out the other side with pride and a genuine bond with the fanbase. His closing line, _“From now on I’m just another Irons,”_ summed up his time at the club.
The image of players huddled under our trademark “IRONS” banner in my opinion further reaffirms the core of his message: unity forged in adversity.
### **What now for Nuno’s new look Championship coaching team?**
Paco’s influence was visible, a stabilising presence, and there was a notable difference in performance and results post him arriving. He had previously described the mood at the club as “very low” when he arrived, and felt that the squad responded quickly and positively to his training methods.
This isn’t just a coach leaving. It’s the departure of a coach who helped reconnect parts of the dressing room, who was well liked by many players. If this truly is goodbye, Nuno will lose a key member of his coaching team, and it will be interesting to see who he brings in as a replacement.
I see him leaving as a negative as it creates more upheaval. Indeed it is a surprise given Nuno is now staying as Head Coach.
It will be interesting to see what Paco’s next move will be.
