Laura Woods does not hesitate when asked if her son will be allowed to play for Tottenham

Many parents dream of their child becoming a professional footballer, but for Laura Woods, there is a limit.

The TNT Sports presenter is a diehard Arsenal fan, and that was the exact reason why she was back on talkSPORT Breakfast for one morning only on Friday.

With Woods' beloved Gunners playing in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, she reunited with co-host Ally McCoist live from Budapest to preview a huge night for her club, thanks to talkSPORT's partnership with TNT.

In her three years hosting talkSPORT Breakfast between 2020 and 2023, the 38-year-old had to take plenty of jibes at her team's expense as Arsenal failed to deliver a league success.

But a lot has changed in her three years away, with the north Londoners recently ending a 22-year wait for Premier League glory.

Mikel Arteta's side now stand on the brink of history, as they target a first-ever European title against reigning champions PSG.

Life away from football also looks different for Woods, who welcomed her first child, Leo Ernie, with fiancé Adam Collard last year.

Both have been battling to secure their son's footballing loyalties ever since, with Geordie Collard looking to have stolen a march when he shared a picture of Leo dressed in a Newcastle babygrow.

But Woods certainly hasn't given up hope of another Gooner in the family, or at least keeping her son well away from their bitter rivals.

'He would be in trouble'

On her return to talkSPORT Breakfast, Woods was quizzed by McCoist if she would ever allow her son to play for Tottenham, should he pursue a career as a footballer.

He quizzed: "If your wee man grows up to be talented in football, would you let him sign for the Spurs?"

Woods' response was immediate: “No", insisted the ex-Breakfast Show host.

The presenter then hilariously shared how the conversation with her son would play out should her nightmare scenario ever come true.

Woods continued: “I want my son to do the best in life.

“And I think whatever happens, if he's a professional footballer - congratulations, that's incredible.

“Who do you want to sign for? Spurs? Absolutely not.

“You know what, you've got more to learn on this planet before making those decisions.

“And if he made a decision that would take him to the wrong side of north London, he would be in trouble.”

Pre-match nerves?

While Woods revealed she wouldn't be able to stop her personal loyalties from interfering in her son's football career, she will be keeping her heart and head separate when Arsenal take to the field in the Champions League final.

With the TV host fronting TNT Sports' coverage, Woods was asked for her feelings heading into the crunch match.

She replied: “I don't even know how I'm going to feel. But I promise you one thing. I can switch. I will be professional. I can do that, whatever happens.

“But I've never done a Champions League final with my team in it before. So it will be very exciting, trust me.

"I actually don't enjoy watching the games. I don't enjoy it. Especially something with this much magnitude, because I can't relax.

"So it's easier for me to be professional, because I'll just go into notes mode and all that sort of stuff.
