Everton and Ipswich Town are among a host of European suitors for OH Leuven defender Roggerio Nyakossi.
Foot Mercato report that a group of sides are showing an interest in the 22-year-old centre-back thanks to his performances in Belgium.
Everton and Ipswich in the mix
The website explains that Roggerio Nyakossi has been enjoying a ‘remarkable comeback’ in Belgium after leaving Olympique de Marseille ‘unceremoniously’ in January 2025.
He’s now seen as one of Europe’s most promising defenders and, as a result, poised to be a key figure in the summer transfer window.
RC Strasbourg and Olympique Lyonnais are pushing hard for his signature, but they’re not the only ones. Several German and English clubs are also in the mix, while Marseille have a buy-back clause they can use as well.
Everton and Ipswich Town are the two English sides named in the report. They have taken note of the defender. Liverpool have previously shown interest, which the defender was keen on.
He is described as a defender who is ‘formidable in duels’, also ‘dominates in the air’ and is ‘particularly technically gifted’. He is also strong on the ball and enjoys and excellent passing ability, thriving in a high line. In other words, he’s the perfect modern centre back.
€8m asking price
His transformation has ‘whetted appetites’, while OH Leuven would like at least €8m from any sale. That’s a 10x profit on their original purchase.
Everton and Ipswich are in a group of admirers. That includes Feyenoord, Augsburg, Hoffenheim, Stuttgart and Werder Bremen. FM’s own information is that Strasbourg and Lyon can be added to that as well. The French duo have made inquiries already.
Marseille can get him back for €6m this summer. That’s a clause which may prove to be a very smart addition to the original sale.
But the final decision will remain with the player. Whether he wants to return to the club where it began, or move elsewhere, remains to be seen.
