Wolves are making early moves to improve their squad.
Wolves have a verbal agreement in place to make Kieran Trippier their first summer signing as part of a huge squad rebuild.
Head coach Rob Edwards has been integral in the conversations with Trippier as the club pushed for his signature, amid competition from several clubs in England and abroad, including some Premier League interest.
Now, Wolves have a verbal agreement with the 35-year-old for a two-year deal, with the option of a third year.
Trippier is due for his medical once he returns from his post-season holiday, with Wolves set to make him their first signing of the summer.
The news has been welcomed by most supporters, who see Trippier’s signing as a coup for the club amid their rebuild.
A number of players are set to leave this summer and Wolves have promised to be aggressive in the transfer market to improve the team, as they target some experience and leadership.
Trippier ticks both boxes as a player with extensive experience at the top level for club and country, while also wearing the armband for a number of sides.
The club have also shown interest in bringing striker Raul Jimenez back to the club, as they aim to readdress the balance in the team ahead of a Championship promotion push.
The agreement to sign Trippier comes after Wolves tied Andre down to a new deal until 2030.
The Brazilian midfielder has outlined his commitment to staying with Wolves in the Championship, in a huge boost for the club.
With the expected signing of Trippier, right-back Jackson Tchatchoua is expected to depart this summer after he struggled for form following his £10million move last year.
Joao Gomes is also in talks to join Atletico Madrid, while several other members of the squad will be moved on as Wolves seek a reset after a dreadful top flight campaign.
Trippier started his career at Manchester City but was sent out on loan before signing for Burnley.
An impressive three years at the Clarets earned him a move to Spurs and it was during his four years at the London club when he earned his first senior England appearances.
He earned 54 caps from 2017 to 2024 and his only goal for his country came with a stunning free-kick against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, which England went on to lose 2-1.
Among Trippier's honours, he won La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 and he won the Carabao Cup with Newcastle in 2024/25, while he was part of the Spurs team that finished runners up in the Champions League.
