Aston Villa's Victor Lindelöf doesn't see a return to Swedish football on his agenda in the future and says playing "pain-free" has given him an extra boost.
Lindelöf finished his first season at Villa Park by being part of Unai Emery's team that lifted the Europa League trophy, their first major success in 30 years.
The Sweden international, who is heading to the World Cup, has another year left remaining on his contract but has dismissed all talk of returning to his homeland.
Many Swedish players have finished off their careers in their homeland, but when asked about the idea Villa's Lindelöf said: "I don’t think so.
“I don’t see myself coming home to the Allsvenskan and playing. I’ve never played there, so it would be fun, but if I know myself right, I don’t think it’s possible.”
Unai Emery and his squad have brought silverware back to Villa Park by lifting the Europa League crown. And to celebrate, the Birmingham Mail have produced this stunning souvenir special edition, charting Villa's path to glory.
It is full of interviews, features, striking images and celebrations as we look back at a season to remember.
Lindelöf was a free transfer signing from Manchester United last summer during which he struggled at Old Trafford due to injuries.
But he is enjoying his time at Villa and said: “My body feels good, so I have a good feeling. I have played with constant pain before, so being pain-free gives an extra boost.”
