AS Roma have their sights on Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United as they look to bolster their squad for the Champions League next season.
Solo La Roma report on various transfer targets for the Italian side today, and West Ham and Tottenham feature prominently.
West Ham duo targeted
The website explains that the imminent arrival of Tony D’Amico as sporting director at the club will lead to an evaluation of players from relegated teams or those who struggled this season.
The hope is to secure low-cost deals to circumvent UEFA restrictions and strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad for the Champions League.
The first name on the list could be West Ham’s El Hadji Malick Diouf. The 21-year-old has never been linked with Roma but was a target for D’Amico at Atalanta. He wanted him as a replacement for Matteo Ruggeri. His current market value is €28m.
The second West Ham name on the list is Crysencio Summerville. He is one of the favourites on Gasperini’s list to create a new attacking trio to lead his team.
Reports in Italy have already linked them with a move for weeks. The feeling is West Ham, though, would want more than the 24-year-old’s current €30m valuation.
Tottenham solutions
Tottenham, meanwhile, could offer a solution to central midfield. Their attention is on Yves Bissouma, after looking at the 29-year-old last summer.
He would be a player who would help reinforce the midfield and be an extra option should another player leave. He’s currently valued at €12m, but with only a year left on his deal, that might have a ‘significant impact’.
The second Spurs name on the list is Mathys Tel. Roma are looking for a replacement for Donyell Malen and a striker of Tel’s calibre ‘would be ideal’ to both rejuvenate the squad and ‘increase the technical value’ of Roma’s forward options.
They want to ensure that they are not overly reliant on Malen, who has shone since arriving in January, and Tel could provide that alternative. The 21-year-old is valued at €25m.
For now, the club are just assessing options. But D’Amico’s potential arrival could accelerate efforts and both Tottenham and West Ham find themselves in the viewfinder.
