Sagoe Jr gets off to impressive start on loan

Whilst the majority of Arsenal’s loanees have concluded their campaigns, Charles Sagoe Jr is just getting started.

Sagoe Jr has embarked upon a season-long loan at Kalmar FF, with the Swedish top division set to run for most of the remainder of 2026.

It has been a hugely encouraging start for the 21-year-old, who has scored once and provided five assists in nine league games so far for his temporary club.

Sagoe Jr looked lively as a striker – a position in which he had occasionally featured for Arsenal at youth level – but has recently been used in a more familiar role out wide.

It had long been apparent that Sagoe Jr was above U21 football having played at that level for many years.

In 2023 Sagoe Jr made his competitive senior debut for Arsenal as he started against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.

Loan spells at Swansea City and Shrewsbury Town didn’t go entirely to plan but Sagoe Jr has made much progress over the past year and is now thriving at Kalmar.

Whether this loan will eventually lead to a permanent switch remains to be seen but the early signs are certainly very positive.
