Another name can be crossed off the list in AC Milan’s search for a new head coach as Xavi has declined the opportunity.
Ever since Milan sacked Massimiliano Allegri on Monday afternoon, there have been a number of candidates linked to take over. Andoni Iraola seemed to be the number one target, however he has rejected the chance because he has concerns about the move.

So, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gerry Cardinale – the duo leading the recruitment process – have had to move down the list. Matthias Jaissle is a name that has been mentioned, though Xavi has also been linked by several sources.
Xavi says no too
The list keeps getting shorter for Milan, as Xavi has become the latest to reject Milan after Iraola. The Spanish coach has been out of action for two years after his time at Barcelona, but he has turned down the offer from Cardinale and Ibrahimovic to hold further talks.
Matteo Moretto (via MilanNews) is the one to report it, adding that Xavi’s current priority is to coach a national team after the World Cup. So, the Diavolo’s search for Allegri’s replacement goes on, all while they remain embroiled in the hunt for a new technical director to lead the project too.
