Manchester United could pursue a move for a left winger this summer.
Spanish outlet AS now claimthe Red Devils have made an enquiry about Porto forward William Gomes. Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Roma are also monitoring his situation.
Porto are aware of the interest in their forward, but they want to keep him beyond this summer.
The 20-year-old joined the Portuguese giants in January 2025 from Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo.
He made 28 League appearances and chipped in with eight goal involvements this season, helping Porto clinch the Liga Portugal.
Gomes is naturally a right winger, but can also play on the left flank.
Likened to former Liverpool star Luis Diaz, he is a good dribbler. He averaged 1.7 dribbles per game in the league this season.
Gomes also has the end product to match his flair. He averaged 0.46 big chances and 0.62 goals per game, ranking in the 87th percentile and 97th percentile for both metrics.
Defensively, the Brazilian youngster is not afraid to put in a tackle, but struggles with aerial duels. His passing and crossing also need improvement.
Gomes has a €80 release clause, making a move to Man United doubtful. The Red Devils are given priority to strengthening the midfield.
He also does not have enough experience, having made just 57 appearances for Porto since. United would be reluctant to pay such a huge amount for him.
The Mancunian giants have also been linked with AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, who is another option for the left wing. He will reportedly be available for £60 million.
United do not plan to reintegrate Marcus Rashford into the side, who could have saved them the cost of signing another forward.
