Spotted: Daniel Farke joins Marcelo Bielsa in brilliant Leeds United recognition

You can’t go far in the city without Leeds United murals making an appearance on your journey, dotted across buildings far beyond LS11.

Now that the Premier League season has come to an end with Leeds celebrating the success of staying in the Premier League, there’s scope to reflect on the job that Daniel Farke has done.

Going straight back down after last season’s memorable 100-point title win would’ve dampened the achievement. But instead, it’s “mission accomplished” as the boss put it himself.

Daniel Farke honoured in four-man Leeds United title mural in Guiseley

The murals that have constantly cropped up across the city are growing in numbers as the years go on. However, the vast majority commemorate achievements of the past.

Farke, though, has been honoured with artwork dedicated to his 24/25 title win. He amassed a staggering 100 points and claimed promotion back to the Premier League last season.

In Guiseley, on the side of Yorkshire Dental Suite, there was previously a mural depicting Leeds’ three title-winning managers. Don Revie, Howard Wilkinson, and Marcelo Bielsa all featured.

Frustratingly, the render on that wall had been damaged, leaving the painting in need of restoration. Thankfully, that’s since been completed with a fourth face added in Farke:

Daniel Farke on the way to holding strong Leeds United legacy after survival

The way Farke spoke in that press conference was quite a bold stance to have. However, if we’re to continue on this trajectory and show ambition, his legacy at Elland Road could be incredible.

Survival in the Premier League was enough to say Farke can leave with his head held high. But now, the job extends to a greater mission of consolidating us back as a top flight mainstay that can even qualify for Europe.

Should Farke do that with backing from the 49ers, he muscles his way into the conversations with those in the mural above.

It’s harsh to compare any manager to another at this club. They all had contrasting impacts in contrasting contexts, but the job Farke has done is nothing short of brilliant, of course.
