The former Newcastle United defender has agreed an initial two-year deal with Championship newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The former Atletico Madrid full-back joined the Magpies in January 2022 as he became the first new signing made under their PIF-led owners and went on to play a key role in helping Eddie Howe’s side avoid relegation from the Premier League during the same season. Trippier remained an integral figure at the club and has departed as a genuine club legend after helping Newcastle qualify for the Champions League on two occasions and end their 70-year wait for major domestic silverware with a Carabao Cup final win against Liverpool in March 2025.
After making 160 appearances for the Magpies, it was confirmed Trippier was to leave the club when his contract comes to an end this summer and he received an emotional send-off from supporters when he made his final St James Park appearance in a win against West Ham United earlier this month.
In an emotional statement released confirming his departure just days earlier, the former England international said: "The time has come to leave this amazing club after four-and-a-half years. This is where I have felt most at home. It's emotional, and I'm really going to miss it. I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times. You've always supported me, always stood by me.
"To my teammates, it's going to be emotional. It's been an amazing journey with you guys. I'm going to miss you all, but to win a trophy with you guys was really, really special - the best of my career. And to the manager, Eddie Howe, all the coaching staff and the team behind the scenes, a massive thank you. The gaffer had the trust - twice - to sign me, gave me the opportunity to represent and captain this great club and most importantly, we managed to win a trophy.”
Magpies boss Howe added: "Kieran has been magnificent for us on and off the pitch. From the moment he walked through the door, he has helped to drive standards that have changed the club's trajectory.
"His performances on the pitch have been to the highest level. Building strong partnerships with the players around him. His outstanding technical ability helped elevate the team and his strong crossing ability helped create many goals and chances for his teammates.

Several clubs from the Premier League, EFL and across Europe are believed to have shown an interest in Trippier - but he is now on the brink of joining Wolves’ bid to make an immediate return to the top flight after suffered relegation into the Championship earlier this season.
Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has reported Trippier has agreed an initial two-year deal with the former Magpies full-back and there is an option of a further 12 months. The 35-year-old will undergo a medical at Molineux once he returns from holiday before completing a move to Molineux and becoming a key figure with Rob Edwards squad for the new Championship season.
